What can you study at a folk high school?
The folk high school is the most extensive educational institution in Finland. The folk high schools offer both long term study programmes and short courses.
At folk high schools you can attend:
- Folk high school study programmes
- Folk high school year for youth of compulsory education age
- Education for immigrants
- Open university studies
- Vocational upper secondary qualification, further vocational qualification, specialist vocational qualification
- General upper secondary education (gymnasium)
- Basic education for adults
- Special needs education
- Short courses
- Preparatory education for an upper secondary qualification (TUVA)
At the folk high schools where the working language is Finnish the studies are conducted in Finnish, and vice versa in the Swedish ones. Some folk high schools organize studies in English. Examples of these are open university studies in language and communication.
